Our Impact

The Breast and GYN Health Project has served the community since 1997, that's 20 years!

During that time, we have assisted over 2,700 individuals facing breast or gynecologic cancer concerns.

In 2016, Warmline Volunteers and Staff assisted 432 clients and had over 6,377 contacts with the clients throughout the year.

We reached over 22,000 community members with messages about breast or gynecologic cancer and local resources.

One hundred sixty nine volunteers donated over 3,710 hours to support local breast and gynecologic cancer patients in 2016.

With the vision, care and commitment of community volunteers,  basic support services are available weekly in Fortuna and Garberville at Satellite locations. In collaboration with the California Center for Rural Policy (CCRP), the Breast and GYN Health Project completee a pilot study in 2016 looking at California Cancer Registry data to assess factors potentially associated to Humboldt County's persistent high, age-adjusted, death rate of breast cancer compared to other California Counties.   The Rural Breast Cancer Survival Study has more information about the study results at www.rbcss.org.
